(Video) Obama in 2009 – Obamacare Individual Mandate “Is Not A Tax”

The US Supreme Court upheld the Obamacare Individual Mandate today, but only when determined to be a TAX.

But… Just so we’re all clear:  in 2009, in an interview with George Stephanopoulos, President Barack Obama adamantly denied that the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” (aka Obamacare) individual mandate to buy health insurance was a tax.

To hear Obama refute the Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of a tax, go to 4:58.

The Debt Ceiling Debate….Simplified

“Miss Me Yet?”…

It’s been a busy couple of months!  2012 is a big year and now it’s here–no time to waste.  The countdown to November is well underway.  We have historic elections upon us in just a few short months.

We WILL retain the House Majority.

We WILL take the Senate Majority.

We WILL elect a Republican president.  To quote former Presidential candidate, Herman Cain: “I could not, cannot, will not … allow Barack Obama to have a cakewalk back into the White House.”

On a local level here in Minnesota, we have the entire State House up for grabs, not to mention all of the local school board, municipal and county elections.

Most importantly, we have a Senate election against incumbent Amy Klobuchar (D). Democrats and their “lamestream media” counterparts have been telling us that this is an “untouchable seat for Republicans”.  They’ve tried to convince us that she is as safe as it gets.

WRONG.

Being an Obama lap dog is not going to get her reelected.  Supporting issues like Obamacare and TARP and the PIPA/SOPA debacle will be her undoing.

Stay tuned…

DNC Chair: We Have Turned This Economy Around!

Wow.  Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz actually has the audacity to be interviewed on national television and lie to the American people about the state of the national economy (nothing new though… I’m not sure Democrats know how to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?)

I’d like her to find me one person who honestly thinks that a near debt-default, highest government spending in history, growing unemployment, rising gas prices, etc. is the equivalent of “turning the economy around”…..

….Well, I suppose if you mean going from BAD to WORSE…. she might have an argument there.

Another Democrat fail.

Keith Ellison: Bachmann Wants Women “In the Kitchen”, “Pregnant”

Keith Ellison (politician)

Congressman Keith Ellison (D-Minnesota)

Congressman Keith Ellison (D-Minnesota) showed a real lack of class recently when he gave a speech in front of a progressive student coalition known as Campus Progress at their 2011 National Conference.  Ellison went on the attack towards the character of Presidential candidate  Congresswoman Michele Bachmann, presumably because he realizes that strong, outspoken, (might I add conservative), knowledgeable women are one of his worst nightmares…

During his speech, Ellison informed the audience of one of the more arrogant quotes I’ve heard from a politician lately:

An Open Invitation – Why Do You Support Obama?

Official presidential portrait of Barack Obama...

Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States

It’s been 2 years plus 167 days since Barack Obama assumed the office of the Presidency of the United States.  He won easily over GOP-endorsed Senator John McCain. His platform was “Hope and Change”, which I’m not quite sure how that translates into actual ideas, but many in the electorate bought into it (whatever that means).  Some even expected Obama to pay for gas, mortgage, other bills…. as if he was the Great and Powerful OZ.

So what has he done?  The numbers don’t lie. Read the rest of this entry

Applying the Declaration of Independence Today

U.S. Declaration of Independence ratified by t...

Declaration of Independence

When was the last time you read through the text of the Declaration of Independence?  The US Constitution? The Bill of Rights?

For the average American, that answer is likely “sometime in high school.”  When we, as a society, do not understand our history, the right and the wrong that we have come through as Americans, we begin to lose sight of that which we hold so dear.  Whether you choose to read this in the context of what President Obama has done as the leader of this country or what Mark Dayton has done thus far as the Governor of Minnesota, I hope these words find you pondering which direction our country and state are going in.

So now that another Independence Day has come and gone, it’s time to take a little walk down memory lane and revisit how America came to be, through the words of the document that said, “NO MORE!” to the British monarchy. (Emphasis mine.)

This is Mark Dayton’s Shutdown

U.S. Senator Mark Dayton of Minnesota.

Image via Wikipedia

Mark Dayton is Minnesota’s liberal Democrat-Farmer Labor Governor.

In an historic election, 2010 brought a tidal wave of Republicans into the Minnesota State Legislature. The Minnesota State House of Representatives and the Minnesota State Senate both have new GOP Majorities, which were formerly DFL majorities for multiple election cycles. But on the flip side, the 2010 Gubernatorial race ended in a recount that the GOP lost by less than 9,000 votes, giving us one of the most Liberal governors in state history.

Dayton is currently holding the State of Minnesota hostage while we await a government shutdown on July 1 if a budget agreement is not reached.  The governor and the GOP-controlled legislature are at an impasse as to how to close a $2 BILLION dollar gap. Dayton’s answer: Tax the Rich. GOP’s answer: Make tough cuts and live within our means.

Note to GOP legislators: NO MORE COMPROMISES. If there are any fee or tax increases, it is a fact that there will be primary challenges. We have to live within our means.

Governor Dayton’s actions are reminiscent of a child in a toy store who is begging and screaming for a shiny new toy. The state of Minnesota is not his toy box. It’s time that we stand up to a trust fund baby who obviously has no concept of what a budget really means, since he has doubtfully never had to live by one.

Below is a fantastic visual timeline from the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus of the budget negotiations thusfar. Minnesota is mere hours from shutting down, but Dayton is digging in his heels and will not give in without a tax increase.  THIS IS MARK DAYTON‘S SHUTDOWN.

Illinois – The Land of Corrupt Governors

Amusing take on the Blago scandal. Credit: Motifake.com

Looks like former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich wasn’t alone in his corrupt ways…  After being convicted on 17 counts stemming from corruption charges relating to his plan to sell newly-elected President Barack Obama’s US Senate seat in 2008, Blago was “stunned” at the outcome.  Really?

From the Chicago Sun Times:

Blago the 4th past Illinois gov convicted of crime

Rod Blagojevich is the fourth Illinois governor to be convicted of crimes, his conviction Monday putting him in the company of Democrats Otto Kerner and Dan Walker and Republican George Ryan.

Moral of the story: Illinois, you really need to start evaluating your political candidates a little better… though the Illinois (Chicago) political machine is a force to be reckoned with.
