Dear Class of 2012

Dear Class of 2012,

Congratulations on taking the next step toward your future! Your achievement does not go unnoticed.  Hard work and perseverance has gotten you through all of those late-night study sessions to this exciting place where freedom looms.  You are about to take the next step in life in a time when, unfortunately, few things are for certain– the economy, the job market, the housing market, etc.

If I have one piece of advice for you, it is that you must continue to invest in your future. YOU are the key to YOUR success.

The most significant investment you can make in your future doesn’t cost you a thing. It’s something only you have and nobody can take it away from you.  It is your vote.

On November 6th, 2012, you have the chance to make the choice on the biggest investment of your life — one that can, above all else, determine your future success, prosperity and freedom.  On November 6th, 2012, you will have the chance to cast a ballot that gives you a say in what you want out of your future.

You see, your vote is more valuable than any currency.  It is more valuable than any prospective job.  It is important enough to impact almost every other decision you will get to make in your life: where to work, what kind of house to have, what kind of car you’ll get to drive, how many future children you can afford to send to college and more decisions that will come from this domino effect.

The choice is simple:  an untamed, unchecked, unleashed second-term presidency with Barack Obama or the choice for freedom and real hope and change.  Though the playing field is not yet officially set, the battle has been waged for the heart and soul of America and I hope you are ready to fight.

Four years ago, Barack Obama promised us he would cut our debt in half.  Four years ago, Barack Obama promised that unemployment wouldn’t go up and that young people like you and me would have a plentiful job market to choose from.  Four years ago, Barack Obama promised that he would conduct his administration in the most transparent way ever seen in Washington DC.

….But he has failed.  He has done none of those things and I am done accepting his excuses and misguided notions of how to run this country.  I am done listening to him cast his failures onto anyone but himself.  I am done with a president who has no idea how to take ownership of his own actions and inactions.

I know how you feel right now.  I, too, am a student.  I, too, will graduate in 2012.  I, too, have student loan bills to pay.  I, too, think about my future and that of my future family and what my life will look like down the road.

I hope you will stand with me in supporting the real American Dream — a better America for ourselves and our future kids than the one that we are left with right now.  Selfish politicians with self-serving goals have done little to improve this beacon of freedom in the world.  In fact, if we do not change course soon, I’m not sure we will recognize the America that lies ahead of us.

I hope you will work with me to teach your friends and family about the history and the vision of freedom and liberty that is the United States of America.

I hope you will be an active participant in your community and work toward making the world around you a better place.

I hope you will question what you see in the news and learn to ask more questions of those who have been elected.

I hope you understand how the economy works and why $5/gallon gasoline is not ok and the skyrocketing price of groceries is unacceptable.

I hope you understand that Martin Luther King, Jr once had a dream for a colorblind America… where people are judged by the content of their character, and not by the color of their skin.

I hope you understand the beauty and the magnitude of the Constitution and what it stands for… Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I hope you understand how powerful your choice will be in November.

I hope you will stand with me in casting your invaluable vote against Barack Obama.

As President Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”

I’m standing for freedom.  I’m standing for America.  I am investing in my future.  It is the most important investment that you and I can make at this place in time.  Please join me.

I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.  I hope you will seek out all of the wonderful opportunities that this country provides and capture them for yourselves.

  1. My recently turnd 18 year old had a voter registration card pinned up in his room for SIX MONTHS before his 18th birthday. Two weeks before his birthday he mailed it in. Now all he says is how much he is looking forward to voting AGAINST President Obama in November!
